Doctor

  • Dr. JAY A BUTAN , DVM


    After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University, Dr. Butan received his veterinary doctorate at Tuft's University School of Veterinary Medicine. He went on to practice at a large group facility in Detroit for 3 years, where he served as chief of staff. In 1989 Dr. Butan took over Canal Animal Hospital and has been serving the needs of his clients and community since.

    Dr. Butan is an active member of the Palm Beach County Veterinary Society, The Florida Veterinary Medical Association, The American Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Association. In addition to running a busy animal hospital, Dr. Butan has participated in many clinical trials to test the efficiency of new drugs prior to approval and has represented major pharmaceutical companies at both national and international conferences. He is currently a member of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.

    SCARLETT HAS WORKER HERE SINCE 1989.SHE IS A GREAT ASSET TO THE TEAM AS WELL AS VERY DEDICATED TECH WITH ALOT OF EXPERIENCE.

    Crece graduated with a degree in Theater from Florida Atlantic Univeristy. She was a stay at home mom for 15 years and was slightly apprehensive about starting a job, but she has found everyone at Canal Animal Hospital to be so welcoming and nice that she is truly glad to have been a part of the staff since 2002. She loves animals and has five cats and two dogs at home.

Reception

  • SHEENA REAL , CERTIFIED IN PET CPR,ATTENDED THE VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST TRAINING AT UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA


    Sheena has been with Canal Animal Hospital since June of 1997 when she began volunteering her time during high school as a class project. She would come in every day from 3 P.M. to close to help out with the kennels. Soon she applied for a job at the clinic and has been learning continuously about the practice since, helping Dr. Butan in surgery, learning how to develop X-Rays, run bloodwork, and help in exam rooms. Next Sheena started to work as the receptionist and has been in this position since 2000. She loves this part of the practice as she is able to greet clients and their pets when they arrive.Sheena says "Our clients mean alot to me and each day I strive to make sure each patient is happy and satisfied 100% before they walk out our door."
